Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal Treatment at Perfect Teeth Dental

Every tooth has a central nerve and blood supply that helps us feel pain, pressure, and temperature. This nerve sits inside small channels in the root — known as canals.

Sometimes, due to decay, injury, or gum disease, the nerve inside the tooth can become inflamed or infected. This can cause discomfort, pain, or sensitivity that affects your daily routine, including eating and drinking.

Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic therapy, is designed to treat this problem by removing the infection and saving the tooth.

What Does Root Canal Treatment Involve?

Once the area is fully numbed, a protective rubber sheet is placed to isolate the tooth. The centre of the tooth is gently accessed and cleaned using precise instruments to remove the damaged nerve and bacteria. A disinfectant solution is also used to ensure the inside of the tooth is thoroughly cleaned and sterilised.

Once clean, the root canals are sealed with a special material to prevent future infection. This allows the tooth to remain in place and continue to function normally.

Root canal treatments are highly successful and are often the best option to save a natural tooth.

What Are the Alternatives?

If a root canal isn’t the right choice for you, the tooth may need to be removed and replaced with a bridge, denture, or implant — or you may choose to leave the gap.

If you’re feeling nervous, let us know. We’re here to support you every step of the way and will always take the time to help you feel calm, comfortable, and in control throughout your treatment.

I was originally referred to Dr Ahmed for an upgrade on my bite – from one that cushions the teeth to one that will inhibit the grinding – and ended up getting veneers as well, something I have been thinking about doing for 10 years! Upon meeting Dr. Ahmed, I instantly liked her energy and the confident way she spoke and found I had complete trust in her and her ability. It was apparent that she liked her work and I have found that people who like what they do, do a great job. She certainly did not let me down.

As a young woman, I had beautiful, straight, white teeth. Over the years, this change and I hated the way my front teeth looked – chipped, broken, filled and brownish! I never did a full smile in photographs. The first thing I notice about people are their teeth and thought this must be reciprocal - later finding out it was not! My perception of how I look was different from others - they didn’t seem to notice my terrible teeth.

After discussing with Dr. Ahmed veneers and the process involved with treatment, I was seriously thinking about going ahead and made an appointment to begin the treatment. Later in the day, I spoke with my husband and daughter and was surprised that they both thought it was about time since I have been talking about my teeth for so long! The treatment for veneers and having a new bite fitted was pain free and occurred over several weeks with a total of three visits. When Dr Ahmed asked me what outcome I was hoping for – I said I just wanted my teeth to look better and not broken or chipped anymore. I cannot be happier with the results. She did a beautiful job and is a true professional. I now have the teeth of a young woman. I cannot stop smiling and love having my photograph taken. I have compliments on how I look, telling me I look healthier. My friends cannot put a finger on why this is, but I know it is my lovely teeth and smile. I find I am also sleeping better which I attribute to the new bite. I am pleased to have found someone who knew what to do to help me protect my bite and teeth.

If you are thinking about having veneers, I would highly recommend seeing Dr. Ahmed at Perfect Teeth, Arnos Grove – and not to wait 10 years like I did! You will be amazed with the results
