Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal Treatment at Perfect Teeth

Every tooth has a central nerve and blood supply that helps us feel pain, pressure, and temperature. This nerve sits inside small channels in the root — known as canals.

Sometimes, due to decay, injury, or gum disease, the nerve inside the tooth can become inflamed or infected. This can cause discomfort, pain, or sensitivity that affects your daily routine, including eating and drinking.

Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic therapy, is designed to treat this problem by removing the infection and saving the tooth.

What Does Root Canal Treatment Involve?

Once the area is fully numbed, a protective rubber sheet is placed to isolate the tooth. The centre of the tooth is gently accessed and cleaned using precise instruments to remove the damaged nerve and bacteria. A disinfectant solution is also used to ensure the inside of the tooth is thoroughly cleaned and sterilised.

Once clean, the root canals are sealed with a special material to prevent future infection. This allows the tooth to remain in place and continue to function normally.

Root canal treatments are highly successful and are often the best option to save a natural tooth.

What Are the Alternatives?

If a root canal isn’t the right choice for you, the tooth may need to be removed and replaced with a bridge, denture, or implant — or you may choose to leave the gap.

If you’re feeling nervous, let us know. We’re here to support you every step of the way and will always take the time to help you feel calm, comfortable, and in control throughout your treatment.
